Most people are unqualified to have kids

Every child deserves parents. Not every parent deserves children.

Most Indians assume that having kids after marriage is some sort of predestined logical conclusion. After marriage, relatives start to ask when they are going to hear the “happy news”, and even parents start guilt-tripping for the continuation of their glorious(?) legacy.

Giving birth to a child is a monumental decision. Being born is the first and greatest violation of consent in a person’s life. Birth imposes the entire burden and risk of existence on someone who never had the opportunity to agree. So it should be treated with the philosophical depth it deserves. This is especially true for Indians, as their child is going to be born in a third world shit hole. I myself would not have agreed to be born in India if I had a choice. I would have preferred Sweden, Finland or Denmark.

Before giving birth, think about these things:

  • Do you have the financial security to take care of the child?
  • Will you be able to provide protein-rich nutritious food (not just the carbs)?
  • Do you and your spouse really love each other? Do you see yourself loving each other 10, 20 or 30 years in the future?
  • Do you live in a safe society with clean air, clean water, good infrastructure, good healthcare and rule of law?
  • Are you doing this for experiencing the joys, struggles and the fulfilment of parenthood, or is this an insurance for your old age and a vanity project?
  • Are you sure you won’t be disappointed or angry when the child does not live up to your arbitrarily set standards?
  • Do you have the means to provide a good education for the child?
  • Are you willing to leave the matters of higher education, belief in religion, choice of spouse, etc. in the hands of the child?
  • Will you have the time and energy to spend with your child during their childhood?
  • Are you both willing and capable of taking care of the child (changing diapers, bathing, feeding, soothing, etc.)?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, then you should not be having kids. You will only be doing your unborn children a favour. Remember, bringing a child into existence is a unilateral decision with lifelong consequences that the child never asked for.

It is a great astonishment to me that even in hells like Gaza, Sudan, Haiti, etc., people are still having kids. And these people claim to love their children. If you love your children, why bring them to a place where survival itself is uncertain from one moment to the next? You are not fooling anybody. You don’t love your children, and you are a hypocrite. And no amount of cultural or religious pressure changes that.
